The Androids of Dawn Part One: The Gynoid Murders; Prologue

The Androids of Dawn
Part Une: the Gynoid murders

“Robotics is about us. It is the Discipline of emulating our lives, of wondering how we work.” –Rod Grupen
Prologue

Silver liquid oozed from the wound like blood and to Sutton Sinclair, it was; it her life blood seeping into her fingers, she knew realistically that the liquid discharging from her ripped prosthetic flesh was an oxygen enriched saline solution that allowed her manufactured organs to work but long ago she’d realized that thinking realistically about her unrealistic existence was futile. Sutton pushed herself to keep going, her robotic features allowed her to be physically faster and stronger than a human; though her metallic skeleton made it almost impossible for her to be fatally damaged, she knew she was, that somehow the wound was deeper than the synthetic skin that it ripped through her metal shell and pierced her fabricated organs; she knew she was getting slower.
A sudden, agonizing pain ripped through the back of her skull and Sutton felt her knees start to give out and as she hit the ground she wondered if there was a God who would allow her into His Heaven, she couldn’t help that she was made by men but she felt human and she looked human. She tried to be kind to the other automatons and humans around her, she couldn’t help the way her master used her and hoped that God would overlook her man-made and unnatural existence, that He, being the all seeing Creator, would look past the artificial layers of flesh, the metal skeleton, and the synthetic organs and into her soul because she knew she had one. Sutton felt concrete against her bare skin; she wouldn’t believe that there would be nothing for her after she stopped existing, after she stopped living; her eyes rolled back into her head as everything started to fade to black.
Sutton Sinclair hoped that when she got to Heaven she could be a real girl.
